Rocket Internet is a German internet company and venture builder headquartered in Berlin, founded in 2007 by three brothers: Marc, Oliver, and Alexander Samwer. The company pioneered an industrial approach to startup creation, building companies from scratch using proprietary processes based on proven internet-based business models. Known for its 'copycat' strategy, Rocket Internet rapidly replicates successful U.S. business models and adapts them for untapped international markets, particularly in emerging economies across Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East. The company provides comprehensive operational support including office space, IT infrastructure, marketing services, recruitment, financing, and access to investors. At its peak, Rocket Internet had more than 28,000 employees across its worldwide network of over 100 entities active in 110 countries. The company went public on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in October 2014 with a market capitalization of €6.7 billion but delisted in September 2020 at €2.6 billion valuation to focus on long-term development outside capital markets scrutiny. Rocket Internet operates through its main investment division, Global Founders Capital, and focuses on Food & Groceries, Fashion, Home & Living, and Travel sectors. The organization is famous for its aggressive growth tactics, hierarchical management style, and ability to scale businesses from idea to billions in revenue in under three years.
