Founders is a thesis-driven venture studio that builds software companies from the ground up, investing at day zero and focusing on zero-to-traction stage. Founded in 2012 in Copenhagen, Founders distinguishes itself from incubators, accelerators, and traditional VCs by actually building companies from scratch rather than merely financing or assisting existing entrepreneurs. The studio specializes in the first 12-24 months of a company's life, working with exceptional entrepreneurs to conceptualize, experiment, and work operationally with new concepts until they become actual businesses. Founders maintains a cross-functional in-house team that can be repetitively applied across multiple ventures, allowing them to optimize competencies and accumulate know-how in early-stage company building. They build a reusable infrastructure of specialist functions that allows co-founders to maintain valuable focus on building concepts and products. The studio has refined their model to enable co-founding successive companies on a single platform that gets smarter with each success and failure. Currently focused on B2B fintech and healthtech sectors, Founders launches early, iterates fast, and embraces failure as part of the process on the road to success. Notable for building Pleo, which became a major fintech success story in Europe.
